The Wire Fox Terrier Association Judges Criteria

INCLUSION INTO ANY OF THE CATEGORIES OF JUDGES LISTS BELOW WILL ALWAYS BE AT THE DISCRETION OF THE WFTA JUDGES SUB-COMMITTE

Criteria for inclusion on Judging Lists

Judges will be accepted onto the judging lists provided that they can satisfy the Wire Fox Terrier Association Judges Sub-committee that the following criteria have been met.

A1 List

To have been approved by The Kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates in the breed and have completed their first appointment and to have the support of the WFTA.

A2 List

For persons who fulfil all the requirements of the A3 list and who have been assessed in accordance with the Kennel Club requirements and accepted by them for inclusion on the A2 list and have the support of the WFTA.

A3 List (Breed Specialists)

To have:

  •  A minimum of 7 years judging experience in Wire Fox Terriers and have the support of the WFTA.

  •  A minimum of seven years activity in the breed. (Activity defined as owning including preparing, trimming, exhibiting and handling in breed classes at Open and Championship Shows etc.)

  •  Judged 1 breed Club Open Show

  •  Judged a minimum of 22 classes of Wire Fox Terriers with a minimum of 64 dogs seen in total.

  •  Bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 Wire Fox Terriers when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book (save in exceptional circumstances).

  •  Attended a seminar given by a KC Accredited Trainer and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures.

  •  Attended a seminar given by a KC Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement.

  •  Attended a Conformation & Movement “Hands-on assessment” conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the assessment.

  •  Attended at least one Wire Fox Terrier seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.

B List (Breed Specialists)Attended at least one Wire Fox Terrier seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.

A3 List (Non-Breed Specialists)

To have:

  •  A minimum of 7 years’ experience in any one breed, to include 5 years in this breed and have the support of the WFTA.

  •  Judged Wire Fox Terriers at one Breed Club Show.

  •  Judged a minimum of 22 classes of Wire Fox Terriers with a minimum of 64 dogs seen in total.

  •  Awarded CC’s in at least 1 other breed (preferably from the Terrier group)

  •  Bred or owned a minimum of 3 dogs of any breed when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book (save in exceptional circumstances).

  •  Attended at least one Wire Fox Terrier judging seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.

B List (Breed Specialists)

To have:

  •  A minimum of 6 years judging experience in Wire Fox Terriers and have the support of the WFTA.

  •  Judged 15 dogs of this breed.

  •  Attended one Wire Fox Terrier hands on seminar and passed an assessment to the satisfaction of the Judges Sub-committee

B List (Non breed specialists)

To have:

  •  A minimum of 6 years judging experience in any one breed and have the support of the WFTA.

  •  Judged 15 dogs of this breed.

  •  Attended one Wire Fox Terrier Hands on Seminar and passed an assessment to the satisfaction of the Judges Sub Committee.

C List (Aspirant Judges)

For aspirant judges who have shown an interest in the breed and have the support of the WFTA.
